Blue is associated with low-risk areas such as office spaces, desks, window ledges, hallways, and general cleaning.  These areas have a lower risk of bacterial contamination compared to higher risk areas e.g. bathrooms or kitchens.

Green is assigned to food preparation areas. These areas include kitchens, bars, factories and food processing areas.  Exposure of uncooked meat and fish to surfaces and utensils poses a particularly high risk in terms of cross-contamination. 

Yellow is associated with clinical and healthcare use. In terms of cleaning it's used for all other washroom surfaces, including walls, mirrors, sinks, cubicles and glass.

Red is assigned to washroom areas such as urinals, toilers and floors. These areas areas are considered at a high-risk of bacterial contamination, particularly in medical and workplace environments.
